Project Description
Vivian is pleased to introduce herself to the Vancouver Foundation’s Indigenous Priorities Granting Program as a member of the Snuneymuxw First Nation who has lived in Kwakwaka’wakw territories in Campbell River for the last twenty-eight years. She is a member of the White family on her mother’s Snuneymuxw side, and the daughter of a first-generation Canadian father of English immigrants. She has a M.Ed. from UBC in Adult Learning and Global Change and retired 5 years ago from a 23-year career in Aboriginal Education first in the K-12 system, and later in Post-Secondary Education at North Island College where she spent the last 8 years of her career as a senior Administrator in the role of Director of Aboriginal Education. She is a passionate advocate and supporter for the work being done in First Nations communities to create their own paths to healing, wellness, cultural practice, and language development.
