Project Description
Dacious Richardson is a student at Douglas College studying Sports Science. He is a co-leader for the Surrey Refugee Youth Team under Surrey Local Immigration Partnerships (Surrey LIP) through the City of Surrey, advocating and representing all refugee youth in Surrey. He is part of the RADIUS Refugee Livelihood Lab research team and the Oak Avenue Neighbourhood Society where he serves on the volunteer committee advisory team. He works for the Yo – Bro/Yo – Girl Youth Initiative; partner with the Surrey Schools Board where he coaches wrestling at elementary and secondary schools. He is very passionate about sports and bringing young people together to connect and engage with their community. He is the organizer of the Surrey Youth Mini Soccer Tournament where over 200 people including youth connect through soccer. He is looking forward to a full recovery from a knee injured he sustained last September. He looks forward to sharing his experience and learning from other members in fighting for the rights of Indigenous, refugee and immigrant folks and making a change.
