Downtown Eastside Small Arts Grants are a partnership between Vancouver Foundation and the Carnegie Community Centre, to give Downtown Eastside artists the opportunity to advance their careers by supporting and showcasing their work. Vancouver Foundation distributes funds to the Carnegie Community Centre, who administer the grants to individuals.
Are you an artist living or working in the downtown eastside? Grants of up to $1,000 are available for a wide range of activities from painting and pottery to performance.
How it works
The program is intended to help emerging artists like you working and living in Downtown Eastside advance your art practice. We accept applications once a year for grants from $500 – $1,000.
Your art can be from a very wide range of media including music, theatre, writing, photography, pottery, textiles, jewellery making, carving, painting, animation, dance, mixed-media, performance, video and others. Emerging artists who don’t have access to major funding are encouraged to apply.
Applying for a Downtown Eastside Small Arts Grant is easy via our online application system. You`ll need to check you live and / or work in the designated area, and provide some information about your experience in making art, your connection to the Downtown Eastside, and your idea for a project. Applications for group projects will also be considered.
